Here’s how it
works: |
Over the last few days we have
received numerous telephone calls and e-mails from our
members concerning the terrible tragedy that has
befallen our brothers and sisters in New York
City.
All of these calls and e-mails dealt with
the NRBA doing something to help as a group. Possibly
some sort of fund-raiser to benefit those who have
fallen.
Over the last few days - I have spoken
with all of the NRBA Directors in regard to this and by
telephone vote - this is what we have decided to do.
After doing the research, we have chosen to
support "The Twin Towers Fund" This fund which
has been backed by both the NY Post as well as several
other major corporations, has been established to
help the families of those Fireman and
Police Officers who gave their lives trying to save so
many others. The fund is to directly benefit the
families of these men and women who will never be coming
home to their own children again.
We have chosen
to do this along the same format as we had done for the
Make-A-Wish Foundation fund-raiser.
We are asking
every member to donate $100 for each listing and $5 for
each BPO received during the month of October to the
Twin Towers Fund. Myself and several of the other NRBA
Directors have all already pledged a minimum of $1000
each to get this started.
Again - this is
strictly voluntary, but we would like each of the
members to do whatever they can to help these
families.
We will be notifying the clients about
our efforts just as we did for the MAW
fund-raiser.
The forms and details are
attached.
